TeamJoseph C. Tarantino, served in the Army Security Agency, Military Intelligence between 1965 – 1969 ( ). He was introduced to the government class of trade in the early 1970s, spending 5 years as the Western Division Manager for Warner Lambert’s Government and Special Markets Division. His true introduction to the world of generic drugs began in 1979 where he helped develop the Government Division for Goldline Laboratoies, Generix Drug Corporation, from its inception in 1979 until his departure in 1984 to take the position of Executive Vice President, Government Division, for Whiteworth/Towne-Paulsen, a generic drug manufacturer and full line private label distributor.

In 1988, he joined Moore Medical Corporation as Director, Government Division, and built that program from a virtual start-up to over $25 million before leaving in 1995 to form Liberty Pharmaceuticals. As founder, President/CEO of Liberty, the company over the past +17-years has emerged as a leader in supplying federal government ordering facilities with a comprehensive product line of custom-packed unit-of-use pharmaceuticals, available in 30-, 60- and/or 90-day regiments, based on each account specific individual requirements.

Jim Shelley, Executive VP

TeamTeam Jim Shelley, a retired MSG Pharmacy NCO, served in the Army from 1972 to 1992. His last duty assignment was NCOIC, Pharmacy Services, Moncrief Army Hospital, Ft. Jackson, SC. Upon retiring, MSG Shelley received the Legion of Merit, the sixth in the order of precedence of U.S. Military awards. The Legion of Merit is normally awarded to a high ranking officer of staff or flag rank. The Legion of Merit is awarded to any member of the Armed Forces of the United States who has distinguished himself or herself by exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services and achievements.

Upon retiring MSG Shelley was hired by Joe Tarantino, Director, Government Division, Moore Medical Corporation as the SE Regional Sales Manager. The government division, led by Mr. Tarantino, achieved great results. The government division team, made up of several retired Pharmacy NCO’s was a force to reckon within the generic industry. Sales grew from less than 1 million to over 25 million in a 5 year span.

When Mr. Tarantino left Moore Medical to start his own company, Liberty Pharmaceuticals, MSG Shelley began a career with United Healthcare serving as Pharmacy Director for one of the largest HMO’s in South Carolina. It was MSG Shelley’s desire to one day work for Mr. Tarantino again and his desire is now reality as MSG Shelley is the Executive Vice President for Liberty Pharmaceuticals. Liberty Pharmaceuticals is a veteran owned (Mr. Tarantino President/CEO) small business concern serving the Armed Forces and providing both Private Label bulk generic products and unit-of-use medications.
